A Complete Guide on How to Choose an Induction Sealing Machine and Maintenance Tips

By PackForge Technical Team, Faridabad · 5 min read

A customer who twists open a new bottle of oil or syrup expects to find a foil seal under the cap. If it is missing, the bottle looks tampered with, and if the cap was loose in the truck, it may already have leaked. That small foil disc is put there by an induction sealing machine. This guide explains how the machine works, which type suits which line, what the numbers on a spec sheet mean, and how to keep it sealing well.

What Is an Induction Sealing Machine?

It is a sealer that never touches the container. The cap is screwed on with an induction wad inside – aluminium foil with a heat-seal layer. An electromagnetic field from the sealing head heats the foil, the layer melts onto the bottle rim, and the foil stays bonded when the field is removed. The full working is explained on the induction sealing machine page.

Why Use an Induction Sealer?

  • Tamper evidence: a broken or missing foil shows at once.
  • No leaks in transit: the bonded foil holds even if the cap loosens.
  • Product stays cool: the field heats the foil, not the contents.
  • Works on many bottles: oil, syrup, agro-chemicals, cosmetics and jars.
  • Clean finish: a peel-off seal that customers recognise.

What Are the Major Types of Induction Sealers?

Hand-held Induction Sealer

  • The IS100, held over each cap
  • Caps 20 to 135 mm, any bottle height
  • From ₹4,999 + ₹900 GST

Continuous Induction Sealer

  • The IS200, bottles on a conveyor
  • 2 to 12 metres a minute, bottles 40 to 400 mm
  • From ₹58,240 + ₹10,483 GST

Understanding Cap Size, Bottle Height and Speed

Cap size is the outer diameter of the cap the head can seal: 20 to 135 mm on the IS100 and 20 to 130 mm on the IS200, which works best between 30 and 120 mm. Bottle height matters on a conveyor machine because the head sits at a set height: the IS200 takes bottles from 40 to 400 mm. The hand-held IS100 has no height limit. Speed is quoted in pieces a minute for a hand-held unit (up to 50 on the IS100) and in metres a minute for a conveyor (2 to 12 on the IS200); the real count depends on the cap size and how close the bottles travel. Power shows the class of machine: 500 W hand-held, 2000 W conveyor.

Induction Sealer Features to Look For

A cap range that covers all your sizes: one machine for every bottle you fill saves a second purchase.

Height adjustment on conveyor models: so tall and short bottles both pass under the coil.

Speed control: slower for big caps, faster for small ones.

A footprint that fits: the IS100 is 340 × 290 × 150 mm and 5 kg; the IS200 1150 × 480 × 400 mm and 38 kg.

Warranty in writing: 12 months on manufacturing defects, wear parts excluded.

Spares and service: check that a service visit and parts are available from the seller.

How to Choose the Right Induction Sealer for Yourself?

  1. List your caps. Write down every cap diameter you use.
  2. Count bottles per hour on your busiest day.
  3. Look at the line. Is there a conveyor already, or are bottles filled and capped on a table?
  4. Check the wads. Make sure your caps come with induction liners.

For example, a small hair oil brand filling 100 ml bottles on a table in batches would start with the IS100; an edible oil packer with a filling conveyor would add the IS200 at the end of the line, after the capper.

Common Induction Sealing Problems and What to Check

Foil not bonding on some bottles: check the cap first. The seal relies on a properly tightened cap pressing the liner against the rim, so loose caps come out unsealed. Then check the rim is clean and dry.

Seal patchy at one side: on the IS100, hold the head centred over the cap; on the IS200, set the conveyor guides so the cap passes straight under the coil.

Tall and short bottles on one line: the IS200 takes 40 to 400 mm, but list the full spread of heights so head clearance can be confirmed for each.

Caps outside the range: the IS100 versions cover 20 to 80, 20 to 100 and 20 to 135 mm; the IS200 covers 20 to 130 mm and works best from 30 to 120 mm.

The machine is fine but the wad is wrong: a liner meant for another container may not bond. Send a cap and liner sample and it can be checked.

Induction Sealer Buying Checklist

  • Caps: every diameter you use, and a sample with its induction wad.
  • Bottles: the shortest and the tallest, with the cap on.
  • Output: bottles on your busiest day, and whether they arrive on a conveyor.
  • Capping: how caps are tightened today – by hand, on a CL40 or on a DEC80.
  • Power: 500 W for the IS100 and 2000 W for the IS200, both on 220 V.
  • Space: the IS100 needs a bench corner; the IS200 frame is 1150 × 480 × 400 mm.

How to Maintain an Induction Sealer?

Keep the head clean and dry: wipe off oil or syrup splashes at the end of each shift.

Let air flow around it: do not cover the vents while it is running or cooling.

Check the cable and plug on the hand-held unit every week, since it moves all day.

On the IS200, look after the conveyor: keep the belt clean and the guides set to the bottle.

Peel-test regularly: if foils start lifting at the same settings, check cap tightness and the rim before changing settings.

Switch off before cleaning and keep metal tools away from the head while it is on.

Frequently Asked Questions about Induction Sealers

Do I need special caps for induction sealing?

Yes. The cap must have an induction wad inside: aluminium foil with a heat-seal layer. A plain cap will not seal.

Can the IS100 seal tall bottles?

Yes. Because it is held over the cap, there is no limit on bottle height; caps from 20 to 135 mm.

Why is the foil not sticking to some bottles?

Usually a loose cap, a wet or oily rim, or a wad meant for a different container. Check those before changing the settings.

Will induction sealing heat my product?

The field heats the foil in the cap, not the contents, which is why it is used on oils, syrups and cosmetics.

Can one induction sealer handle several cap sizes?

Yes, within its range: 20 to 135 mm on the IS100 and 20 to 130 mm on the IS200.

What warranty comes with an induction sealer?

12 months on manufacturing defects, wear parts excluded.
