What is a handheld induction sealing machine?

The control box feeds a high-frequency current to a coil inside the head. Held over a capped bottle, the coil sets up a magnetic field that heats only the aluminium layer in the liner, not the plastic cap around it. That heat melts the liner's sealing coat onto the rim, and a short hold completes the bond. The unit draws 500 W from an AC 220 V point.

Because the head is brought to the bottle, there is no height setting: a tall oil can and a squat cream jar are sealed the same way. The control unit measures about 340 by 290 mm and weighs 5 kg, so it moves between benches easily. Tighten caps first on a capper. When bottles flow on a conveyor all day, the IS200 takes over.

Sealing a bottle with the IS100 – 4 steps

   Check the linerMake sure each cap carries an induction foil liner and is screwed on firmly before it reaches the sealer.

   Test one sampleSwitch on and seal a single bottle first, then unscrew it and peel the foil to see that it bonded all round.

   Bring the head downPlace the head squarely over the cap and hold it there until the foil has heated and bonded to the rim.

   Move along the benchLift the head and go to the next bottle; a practised operator can reach up to 50 a minute.
