When the product's value is its aroma, the pack is not a container - it is a barrier, and the seal is the weakest point in that barrier.

Coffee pouches in particular are usually high-barrier laminates and often carry a degassing valve. Both matter to the machine. A heavy laminate may need sustained heat rather than an impulse, and a valve is a fixed feature the bag has to be positioned around.

There is also the question of what is inside the pack. If the point is to keep oxygen away from the product, sealing alone does not achieve it - the air has to be removed or replaced first, which is a vacuum or gas flushing machine and a different conversation.

The pattern we see repeatedly is a brand that has committed to a beautiful printed stand-up pouch and then discovers it seals inconsistently on the machine it bought.

Three features of that pouch matter and all three are worth raising before you order: the laminate structure, which decides impulse against sustained heat; the base gusset, which means the pouch does not lie flat; and the zip, which is a thickness step across the seal line.

Post a few empty pouches with the enquiry. It is the difference between a recommendation and a guess.

Electronics and instrumentation

Component bagging here often uses anti-static or shielding film rather than ordinary polythene, and those films do not all behave the same under a seal bar. Send a sample rather than a description.

The bags are usually small, so seal length is rarely the issue. The format is - small heavy components pull the bag out of shape, and a foot-operated machine keeps both hands on it.

For anything on a laminate, the most useful thing you can send is the pouch itself. For a plain poly bag, the width measured flat and your daily count are enough.

Shelf life claims start before the sealing machine

A very common Bengaluru enquiry is really about shelf life rather than sealing, and it is worth separating the two because a machine can only do one of them.

A brand printing a best-before date on its pack has made a claim, and that claim rests on the film's barrier properties, on whether oxygen and moisture were removed or replaced, on storage, and on the product itself. The seal is necessary for all of it and sufficient for none of it.

So if the reason you are buying a machine is that your product is not lasting as long as the pack says, the sealing machine is unlikely to be the answer on its own. The questions worth asking first are what the film's barrier is, whether the pack should be vacuum or gas flushed, and what the product's own stability actually is.
