What is a hot bar foot sealer like the FS300D / 400D?

Once switched on, the 350 W heater brings the bar up to working heat and holds it there. When the operator presses the pedal, the jaws close on the pouch for the 5 sec heating time, long enough for heat to pass through the laminate layers and fuse a 10 mm wide seal. The FS300D gives 300 mm of seal length in a 345 x 485 x 880 mm case; the FS400D gives 400 mm in a 445 x 485 x 880 mm case.

Tea, coffee, spice, namkeen and pharma packers using foil pouches are the main buyers, especially where tall pouches need two hands to hold straight. At 14 kg and 16 kg, both models move easily between benches. Plain poly bags are cheaper to seal on the impulse FS series, while a steady flow of foil pouches all shift suits a CS900 band sealer.

Sealing a foil tea pouch on the FS300D / 400D – 4 steps

   Warm the barSwitch on and let the 350 W heater bring the bar to temperature before the first pouch goes in.

   Test your filmSeal a few empty pouches of your real laminate and pull them apart to check the bond holds.

   Align the mouthHold the pouch upright with both hands so its mouth lies straight inside the 300 or 400 mm bar.

   Press for 5 secPush the pedal, hold for the heating time, release, and switch off whenever the bench is idle.
