Rolls: the shape nothing is designed for

A fabric roll is heavy, round, and damaged by anything that presses into it. It will not sit still on a pallet, it will not stack squarely, and a strap pulled tight across it leaves a mark that is visible in the finished garment.

What normally works is film instead of strap, because film spreads its grip over the whole roll stack rather than pressing on one line. A turntable stretch wrapper copes well with rolls stacked on a pallet, provided the film force is turned down until the outer rolls keep their shape. Everything hangs on that one adjustment, so make it on your own fabric rolls, not at the factory value.

Single rolls are mostly covered by hand or with a shrink packaging machine; in honesty, few Ahmedabad mills need more than that, and we will not push equipment that does not fit a round load.

Cartons of cut pieces and made-ups are ordinary carton work — a semi automatic carton sealer and a strapper at the packing table.

Drums, carboys and the chemical belt

Huge numbers of drums pass through Vatva, Naroda and Odhav, and the accidents mostly happen when a drum is being tipped, not while it is being raised. Handling a 200-litre drum really needs two people, yet it is routinely tried by one.

A drum carrier and lifter clamps the drum by its rim, lifts it on hydraulics and keeps it up with a safety lock. Whoever you buy from, test that lock first: if it cannot be trusted, the drum will one day sink while loaded, and that is exactly how people get injured.

Rated capacity assumes a steel drum filled to the top. Plastic drums and carboys have a differently shaped rim that needs its own jaw, so tell us what you move; when it is a mix of both, that normally means one lifter with a pair of attachments, not a second lifter.

For moving drums on a pallet rather than lifting them, a hydraulic hand pallet truck with the right capacity margin, and safety products for the people doing it.

Pharmaceutical and formulation lines

Formulation plants in Ahmedabad work under the same discipline as those in Mumbai — written procedures, declared contact materials, and an auditor arriving with a checklist.

Where the machines go in Ahmedabad

The estates are long-established and each has a character: Vatva GIDC and Naroda GIDC for chemicals and dyes, Odhav for engineering and plastics, Narol for textiles and processing, Changodar and Sanand out on the highway for the newer and larger plots, and Kathwada and Aslali on the ring.

Sanand is the one where a full palletised line is most likely to make sense, because the plots and the volumes are larger. Vatva and Naroda are drum and carton work.

Buying from Faridabad into Gujarat

Gujarat is a good distance by road from Faridabad, so packing is done for the journey; delivery stays free.

Plenty of Ahmedabad firms already have a transporter of their own on the Faridabad–Gujarat route and would rather send the machine with them. That is perfectly fine and frequently faster; just let us know, and the machine will be packed and waiting for your vehicle.

Spares and service

We stock wearing parts for each model in our range, but from Gujarat it makes sense to keep the production-critical few at your own plant: a strapping machine's heating element, a sealer's blades, a pallet truck's wheels and seal kit, and the jaw pads of a drum lifter.

When a fault shows up, phone instead of emailing. Talking it through while you stand beside the machine clears most problems, and over this distance nothing is faster.
