Drum Carriers & Lifters

Drums are the load that hurts people. They are heavy, they are round, they have no handles, and the usual method - two men tipping and rolling - is how backs and feet get injured. A drum carrier or lifter grips the drum, lifts it, moves it and puts it down, with one person operating.

It is standard equipment in chemical blending, lubricants and oils, paints and inks, edible oil, dairy, and anywhere drums come off a truck and go to a filling or decanting point.

The second reason units buy one is decanting. Positioning a drum for pouring by hand is the worst part of the job; a lifter that holds it steady turns it into a controlled operation.

Choosing the right one

The drum decides the grip. Steel drums with a rolled rim, plastic drums with a moulded lip and drums with no usable rim at all need different clamps, so tell us which you handle and send a photograph of the rim if you are unsure.

Then the weight when full, and whether you also handle empties - a grip set for a full steel drum may be wrong for a light plastic one.

Then what you are doing with it. Lifting a drum onto a pallet, moving it across the floor, and tipping it to pour are three different jobs, and the model follows the job.

What this range will not do

A drum carrier does not make a damaged drum safe to lift. A drum with a corroded or deformed rim should not be gripped by the rim at all.

It is not a general lifting device. It is built for drums of the type it was specified for and should not be used on other loads.

And it does not remove the need for the rest of your safety practice - footwear, spill control and trained operators still apply.
