What is a blister packing machine like the BP500?

A 1000 mm turntable carries several stations in a circle. At one station the operator places the blister, the product and the card into the tooling. The table then turns that nest under the 500 x 300 mm heated board, where 1500 W of sealing power and firm pressure fuse the blister flange onto the coated card. Meanwhile the next nest is being filled, so loading and sealing overlap instead of waiting on each other.

It suits packers with a handful of repeat product shapes: cells, stationery sets, cosmetics, chargers and similar hook items up to 150 mm tall inside their blister. Every shape needs its own cut tooling, so plan one set per item. Where products change all the time, the SK390 / 540 skin packer needs no tooling, and loose goods in plain pouches close faster on a CS900 band sealer.

Carding a product on the BP500 – 4 steps

   Fit the toolingPlace the nest cut for this product's cavity on each station, and check the item in its blister stays under 150 mm.

   Load blister and cardDrop the blister into the nest, set the product inside it, then lay the printed card over the flange.

   Turn the tableRotate the 1000 mm turntable so the loaded nest sits under the heated 500 x 300 mm board for its press.

   Unload and refillAs the sealed card comes back round, lift it out, check the flange has stuck all over, and load again.
