What this range covers

Capping and can sealing from the PackForge range - screw capping, ROPP capping and can seaming - supplied, installed and serviced by Fulcrum Infratech Pvt. Ltd., Faridabad.

The cap is where a filled pack leaks or does not. Screw capping applies a pre-formed cap and tightens it to a controlled torque, which is what stops both a loose cap in transit and a cap a customer cannot open. ROPP capping forms the thread onto an aluminium shell on the bottle itself, giving the pilfer-proof band used on pharmaceuticals, liquor and edible oil.

Can seaming is a different operation altogether: the lid and the can body are rolled together into a double seam. It is used for food and beverage cans, paints, ghee and lubricants.

Choosing the right one

Send the container and the closure together, and if you can, send samples. The cap decides the machine more than the bottle does, and a photograph of the cap is worth more than its description.

Say whether you need a tamper-evident band. That is usually what sends a buyer to ROPP rather than screw capping, and it is better established before quoting than after.

Then output and whether caps are placed by hand or fed automatically. Cap feeding is often the real cost in a capping line and it is worth deciding deliberately.

What this range will not do

These are PackForge catalogue machines, not built at the PackForge works.

A capping machine does not fill or label. Those are separate ranges.

It cannot compensate for inconsistent caps or necks. Variation in either shows up as loose or over-tightened caps.

And a can seamer is specific to the can and lid it is set for - it is not a general closing machine.

How to choose a capping or can sealing machine – start from the closure

In this range the container matters less than the thing that shuts it. A screw cap, a crown cork, a foil wad under the cap, a metal can lid and a pressed tube tail each call for a different machine. Name your closure first and half the choice is made.

Hand-held or conveyor induction sealing?

Both induction models bond an aluminium wad to the bottle neck. That gives the tamper-evident inner seal seen on oil, pharma and cosmetic bottles. The IS100 is held over each capped bottle, so a person sets the pace, up to 50 pieces a minute as listed. The IS200 sits on its own conveyor and bottles pass under the head without stopping. Pick it when a filler and capper already feed bottles in a row. It draws 2000 W against 500 W for the hand unit, so check the socket and wiring too.

Three checks people skip

Air supply. The PCC is pneumatic and asks for compressed air above 0.8 MPa. No compressor, no capping.
Size limits. The CL40 grips caps from 25 to 40 mm on bottles 50 to 320 mm tall. The ECS150 takes cans up to 200 mm high. Measure both your largest and your smallest pack.
Tubes are a separate job. Creams and ointments in plastic or laminated tubes go on the UTS ultrasonic tube sealer (₹71,500 + ₹12,870 GST). It closes tube tails of 5 to 80 mm diameter, roughly 20 a minute.

Understand the Requirement Before Buying a Capping or Sealing Machine

Start with the container and the closure, not the machine:

What closes it? A screw cap, a cap with a foil wad inside, a crown cork, a metal can lid or the tail of a tube.
How wide is it? Cap diameter for cappers and induction sealers, can diameter for the can sealer, tube width for the tube sealer.
How tall is the container? The IS200 takes bottles 40 to 400 mm tall; the CL40 50 to 320 mm; the DEC80 8 to 28 cm.
How many an hour? Hand-fed bench work, or a conveyor line that must not stop.

Things to Remember While Buying Capping and Can Sealing Machines

Induction or capping

An induction sealer bonds a foil wad to the bottle neck; it does not tighten the cap.
A capper tightens the cap; it does not make the foil seal. Many lines use both.

Tips to Use Capping and Sealing Machines Correctly

Cap first, then induction. The foil wad bonds only when the cap is screwed down evenly.
Hold the IS100 head centred over the cap. An off-centre head heats the wad unevenly.
Set the IS200 conveyor to the bottle. Match speed and height so every cap passes under the full coil.
Use the change parts for your size. Cappers, can sealers and tube sealers are set to one size at a time.
Check the first pieces of every batch. Peel a wad, test a can seam or squeeze a tube before the run continues.
Keep the PCC air supply clean and above 0.8 MPa.
