What is an ultrasonic tube sealing machine?

A horn vibrates against the tube tail while an anvil backs it from the other side. The rapid rubbing between the two inner faces creates heat right at the joint and melts them together in a moment. No hot jaw touches the outside, so there is no warm-up wait, and a trace of product in the tail is less likely to spoil the bond. It seals about 20 tubes a minute.

Cosmetic, pharma and adhesive firms filling tubes today use it for a neat, leak-free tail. Tubes up to 200 mm tall can be processed, and the 80 kg machine needs a bench about 850 by 460 mm. A batch code can be pressed into the seal. Fill the tubes first on a PF Series filler or, for small doses, an MPF50.

Sealing a cream tube on the UTS – 4 steps

   Fill and clean the tailFill the tube from the open end and wipe the inside of the tail so no cream sits in the seal zone.

   Set the holderFit the holder for your tube diameter, within 5 to 80 mm, and set the working height up to 200 mm.

   Seal the tailSeat the tube and start the cycle; the horn vibrates at 20 kHz and fuses the tail in a moment.

   Squeeze and checkPress a sealed tube firmly to check for leaks, and keep a steady pace of about 20 a minute.
