PP Strap Rolls

PP strap is the consumable that every machine in the strapping range runs on, and it is the part buyers get wrong most often. The strap has to match the machine's dispenser and feed, not just be the same width, which is why this range is organised by what the machine takes rather than by grade alone.

Machine-grade strap is wound and cored for automatic and semi automatic feed - it has to come off the coil cleanly, thousands of times, without a set or a twist that stops the feed. Hand-grade strap is for pneumatic and manual tools, where a person controls the tension and the coil is not being pulled by a machine.

Core size, coil width and colour are the rest of it. Colour is not decoration for everybody: units that run two strap widths or two customers' work often colour-code them so the wrong coil is not loaded on a night shift.

Choosing the right one

Send us the machine model. That single piece of information settles width, core and grade faster than any description of the strap, because the dispenser on the machine only accepts one combination.

If you do not have the model to hand, measure the width of the strap you are using now and the internal diameter of the coil the machine takes. Those two measurements are enough to start.

Then tell us what you are strapping. Light cartons and heavy bundles want different strap, and buying one heavy strap for everything usually costs more per carton, not less, because you are paying for strength on loads that do not need it.

What this range will not do

Strap is not a substitute for a properly sealed carton. If flaps are opening in transit, more strap tightens over the problem rather than fixing it.

Hand-grade strap will not run reliably in a machine. It is the single most common cause of feed jams on a machine that was working fine last week.

And a heavier strap will not make a light-duty machine strap a heavier load. The limit is in the head and the tension unit, not in the coil.
