What is an automatic side sealing machine?

Centre-fold film wraps around the product as it travels along the infeed. A side sealing unit closes the open edge while the pack keeps moving, and a cross seal separates one pack from the next. Sealing runs at 180 - 250 deg C on film 0.015 - 0.10 mm thick, with air at 5 kg / cm2. The 1.40 kW sealer then hands each pack to the 11.7 kW tunnel.

Panel makers, book printers, tile units and hardware packers with long items or steady runs gain most, at up to 35 pieces a minute. The tunnel measures 2000 mm long, 450 mm wide and 200 mm high. Electrically, the sealer wants 220 V while the tunnel wants 380 V three phase. The two units weigh 340 kg and 260 kg. Short, boxy packs at low volume suit an L-sealer instead.

   Size the packAdd the board width to twice its height and keep the total within 450 mm, with height no more than 150 mm.

   Load film and airFit POF or PVC film between 0.015 and 0.10 mm thick, and connect compressed air at 5 kg / cm2.

   Set seal heatChoose a sealing temperature between 180 and 250 deg C to suit the film, and let the 4520L tunnel warm up.
