Automatic Random Carton Sealing Machines

A random carton sealer exists for one reason: your cartons are not all the same size. The machine measures each carton as it arrives and adjusts its head and side belts to that carton, then tapes it. Nobody resets anything between sizes.

That is the machine for third-party logistics and fulfilment centres, e-commerce warehouses packing to order, distributors shipping mixed cases, and any unit whose carton size is set by what the customer ordered rather than by what it manufactures.

The benefit is not raw speed - a fixed-size machine on a single size is faster. The benefit is that output does not collapse every time the size changes, which on a mixed line is where most of the day actually goes.

Choosing the right one

Send the full range of carton sizes: the smallest and largest in each of height, width and length. The machine's adjustment range has to cover all of them, and the extremes are what decide the model.

Then tell us how the cartons arrive. If they come off a conveyor in a line, the machine is quoted to your belt heights and speed. If an operator feeds it, the machine can be simpler and cheaper.

Then the mix. A line that is ninety per cent one size and ten per cent others may be better served by a fixed machine plus hand taping for the odd ones. We would rather tell you that before you buy than have an expensive machine doing a simple job.

What this range will not do

It does not erect or pack cartons. It seals a carton that arrives packed with its flaps folded, or folds the flaps if the machine is specified with a folder.

It does not fix inconsistent cartons. Boxes that bulge, or that are under-filled and cave in, present a moving surface to the measuring head, and no random sealer copes well with that.

And it is not the economical answer for a single-size line. If all your cartons are the same, the semi automatic range does the same job for far less.
