What is a manual steel strapping tool like the 19SST?

Everything happens by lever. A gripper holds the lower end of the band, and the tension lever winds the upper layer tight round the load in short strokes. A second motion then forms an interlocking joint in the two overlapping layers of steel, so they cannot slide apart, and a cutter shears off the tail. It accepts steel band 13, 16 or 19 mm wide and 0.38 to 0.58 mm thick.

Typical jobs are steel coils with sheared edges, pipe and bar bundles, heavy engineering loads and export timber. The tool weighs 3.8 kg and comes as a single piece under item code A-333. Keep gloves, safety glasses and edge protectors beside it. For cartons and lighter bundles, PP strap with the pneumatic tool or the battery tool is easier and safer to handle.

Strapping a steel coil with the 19SST – 4 steps

   Protect the loadPlace edge boards on sharp corners or finished faces, and put on gloves and safety glasses first.

   Wrap and overlapPass 13, 16 or 19 mm steel strap round the coil and lay both ends in the gripper of the tool.

   Pull it tightWork the tension lever until the band sits firm against the load without biting into its edges.

   Join and cutOperate the sealing motion to lock the layers, shear the tail, and bend the cut end away from hands.
