Packaging machines for Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula

A consignment here can cross two state borders in twenty minutes. That is a paperwork problem before it is a packing problem, and it changes how goods should be marked and counted.

The tri-city belt covers Chandigarh's own industrial area, Mohali and the corridor towards Dera Bassi and Lalru, and Panchkula with Barwala beyond it — pharmaceuticals, electronics and IT hardware, auto components, food and light engineering, in three jurisdictions within a few kilometres of each other.

PackForge Industries supplies from our works at Faridabad, a straightforward run up the highway. This page is about short journeys that cross borders, and about a belt whose plants are small but exacting.

Short hops, three jurisdictions

Goods moving from Mohali to Panchkula have changed state twice, and the documentation travels with the consignment rather than with the invoice.

The packing consequence is simple and often missed: what is written on the outside has to match what is on the paper, exactly, including the count.

A consignment described as fifteen cartons and shipped as fourteen plus a loose item is a stopped vehicle, and the delay costs more than the goods. Number the cartons, put the count on each, and count them onto the vehicle.

Where a load is split across two vehicles, split the paperwork with it. This is the single most common avoidable delay in this belt.

Small plants with exacting customers

Much of this belt supplies pharmaceutical, electronics and automotive customers who specify how goods arrive, and who audit it.

Those specifications reach the packing bench last, and often after the equipment has been bought. Ask for the packing specification with the order — board grade, closure, label position and pallet pattern are usually in it, and all four affect which machine suits you.

Where a customer requires both tape and strap, the strap goes on after the seal. A strap under the tape holds nothing and reads as carelessness to the person inspecting it.

Photograph the approved pack and pin it at the bench. It answers most audit questions without a document system.

Where you supply two customers with conflicting specifications, keep the two packs physically apart on the floor. A shared bench with two standards on it produces the wrong one under pressure, and it is always the customer who audits hardest who receives it.

Winter, and a seal made in the cold

This belt gets genuinely cold, and cold is harder on adhesive than heat is.

Tape applied to a cold carton grabs slowly and sometimes never fully bonds. The seal looks right at the bench and opens in a godown a week later, which is why winter complaints outnumber summer ones here.

Keep cartons and tape in the warmest part of the building overnight rather than against an outside wall, and wipe a damp flap before sealing. Both are free.

Where a line runs early in the morning through winter, expect the first hour's seals to be the weakest of the day and check them rather than assuming.

Electronics and light assembly

The IT hardware and electronics work here packs light, valuable goods, and the failure is a short drop rather than a crush.

Cushioning works by giving the product distance to stop in — a carton packed solid transmits the shock straight through, which is why goods arrive damaged inside undamaged boxes.

Where boards or modules are handled, the protective bag matters more than the carton, and ordinary polythene is not a protective bag. A sealing machine closes whichever bag you give it; it does not upgrade one.

Test by dropping a packed sample onto concrete from bench height, once, deliberately.

Buying up the highway

Faridabad to the tri-city is a manageable road move and the machine travels assembled and run-tested.

Prices are ex works with GST and freight quoted separately, and the despatch date is given on the day you ask for it. There is no delivery day printed here because the honest figure depends on the route and the week.

Where a plant runs to a customer's schedule, hold the wearing parts rather than relying on a delivery. The parts are inexpensive; the stoppage is not.

What to send us

Carton size, weight, quantity an hour, and the customer specification if you have one.

The specification is the most useful thing in an enquiry from this belt, because it often rules out half the options before we start.

If it asks for something your equipment cannot do, better to know now than after the first rejected consignment.

Questions buyers in Chandigarh ask

Our vehicles get held up between Mohali and Panchkula.

Usually a count that does not match the paperwork. Number the cartons, mark the count on each, and count them onto the vehicle — and split the paperwork when you split a load.

Our customer specifies tape and strap. In what order?

Seal first, strap after. A strap under the tape holds nothing and looks careless to whoever inspects it.

Seals fail more in winter.

Cold slows the adhesive and a cold carton takes a poor seal. Store cartons and tape in the warmest part of the building and check the first hour's work.

Goods arrive damaged inside undamaged cartons.

A short drop transmitted through solid packing. Cushioning works by giving the product distance to stop in.

Will an ordinary poly bag protect a circuit board?

No. Anti-static and shielding bags are different from each other and both are different from ordinary polythene. A sealer closes any of them; it does not upgrade one.

What is most useful to send with an enquiry?

Your customer's packing specification. It often decides the machine before anything else is discussed.

We supply two customers with different packing rules on one bench.

Keep the two packs physically apart. A shared bench with two standards on it produces the wrong one under pressure, and it reaches the customer who audits hardest.
