Why warmth helps during periods

A heating bag for period pain puts gentle, steady warmth on the lower tummy, which many women find relaxes the cramping feeling. It takes about 5 minutes on charge, gives gentle heat for as long as 2 hours, and is priced at ₹599 with GST included and no delivery fee.

Period cramps come from the muscles of the womb tightening. Warmth on the skin above them relaxes the surrounding muscles and takes your mind off the ache, which is why grandmothers have always reached for a hot water bottle. Heat is for comfort and temporary relief; it is not a medicine and it does not change your cycle.

If your periods are suddenly much more painful than usual, very heavy, or the pain does not settle, please see a gynaecologist.

How to use it for cramps

  1. 1
Charge, then unplugPlug in for about 5 minutes until the auto cut-off stops the heating, then remove the cable from the wall and from the bag.
  2. 2
Lower tummy firstLie down or sit back and rest the bag just below your belly button, over a kurta, T-shirt or a thin towel.
  3. 3
Or the lower backWhen the cramp is felt more in the back, lean against a pillow and tuck the bag behind your waist.
  4. 4
15–20 minutes, then a breakGive your skin a rest, look at it, and put the bag back later – the gel holds heat for close to 2 hours.

Some women keep it on the tummy while lying on their side with knees drawn up – use whatever position feels most restful.

Why an electric bag beats boiling water

No kettle, no spillsFilling a rubber bag with boiling water when you are already in pain is how scalds happen. Here you just plug in.
Hostel and PG friendlyAny wall socket works. No kitchen needed, nothing to empty afterwards.
Office and travelCharge it at your desk at lunch and keep it on your lap under a dupatta or jacket.
Steady heatThe gel stays evenly warm for up to 2 hours instead of starting scalding and going cold.
Sealed and leak-proofThe gel never needs filling, so there is no stopper to come loose in bed.
Ready every monthKeep it in the cupboard and it is ready the moment you need it.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Please ask your doctor before using any heat pad while you are pregnant. Doctors usually advise against heat on the tummy in pregnancy, because raising the temperature of the abdomen is not recommended. A short session on the lower back or shoulders may be fine for some women, but that is your doctor’s decision, not ours.

The same goes for the weeks after a C-section or any surgery on the tummy: wait until your doctor says the area has healed.

Care and safety

  • Unplug before use, every time. Never sleep with the bag on, and never charge it overnight.
  • Use it over a kurta, T-shirt or towel, never straight on bare skin, and look at the skin after each use.
  • Wipe the cover with a slightly damp cloth if it gets marked. Do not wash it in a machine or soak it – the gel pouch and socket must stay dry.
  • Let it cool down before you charge it again.
  • If the pouch puffs up, the gel seeps out or the fabric splits, put the bag aside and contact us.

Heating Bag for Period Pain – frequently asked questions

Does a hot water bag help period pain?

Many women find that warmth on the lower tummy relaxes the cramping feeling and makes the day easier. It gives comfort and temporary relief only. See a doctor if the pain is severe or new.

Where should I keep the heating bag – stomach or back?

Start on the lower tummy, just below the belly button. If the ache is in the lower back, use it there instead. Always over a thin layer of cloth.

How long should I keep it on?

About 15–20 minutes at a time, then take a break and check your skin. Because the gel holds heat for close to 2 hours, a second session usually needs no recharge.

Can I use a hot water bag on the stomach during pregnancy?

Ask your doctor first. Heat on the tummy is generally avoided in pregnancy, and we do not recommend it without medical advice.

Can I sleep with it?

No. Take it off before you sleep. A bag left on the body for hours can redden or burn the skin.

What is the price?

₹599 including GST (MRP ₹1,009, 41% off) with free delivery across India.
