Where a 12.7 mm printer fits
Half an inch is about the height of four lines of small text. That is what most food, pharma and FMCG packs need on the back panel. It suits pouches, mono cartons, labels, bottle caps and the side of shipper cartons where the code is read up close.
300 DPI or 600 DPI
DPI is dots per inch. 300 DPI gives a clear code at normal reading distance and uses less ink. 600 DPI makes sharper small text, logos and barcodes that a scanner must read. If you print only dates and batch numbers, 300 DPI is enough; for barcodes or a fine logo choose 600 DPI.
Battery and daily use
Most of these printers run on a built-in rechargeable battery for a working shift and charge from a USB adapter. For long runs, keep the cartridge capped during breaks so the nozzle does not dry, and wipe it with a lint-free cloth if a line goes missing.
