Understand the Requirement Before Buying Farm Machinery

• What is the job? Clearing grass and bushes, loosening soil between rows, cutting fodder, spraying, lifting water, cutting wood, digging holes or sowing.
• How big is the plot, and how many hours a season? Short sessions on scattered plots favour lighter petrol machines; full days through the season favour diesel or larger engines.
• What is the ground like? Slopes and terraces, hard clay or wet paddy, stony soil or worked beds all change the right choice.
• What power is there? The electric chaff cutters need a 230 V single phase connection; most other machines carry their own petrol or diesel engine.
• Who will run it? Weight, harness fit and hand-starting matter more than engine figures to the person using it every day.
