Vertical Band Sealer Machine
A vertical band sealer carries the pouch standing up, so powder, grain or liquid stays at the bottom and away from the seal. PackForge makes three: the CS900V, the wide-belt CS900VW and the CS1100 for bags up to 10 kg.
Vertical or horizontal: what decides it
The machine does not decide it; the contents do. When a filled pouch lies down, anything loose – masala, atta, rice, sugar, granules – slides towards the mouth and some of it ends up between the films just where the seal must form. A seal made through a layer of powder looks closed and opens later. Standing the pouch upright keeps the product below the sealing zone, which is the whole reason vertical models exist.
Flat items that stay put – garments, small parts in poly bags, pillow pouches of snacks – are easier to feed lying down, and for those the horizontal CS900L or CS900LW is the simpler choice. Many units that pack both kinds keep one of each.

All three seal at up to 12 metres a minute with heat adjustable up to 300 °C. The CS900V weighs 37 kg, the CS900VW 50 kg and the CS1100 42 kg. The CS900 and CS900VW run on 220 V; the CS1100 accepts 110 or 220 V and draws 1235 W.
Which vertical model for which pack
- Masala, spice and tea pouches up to 3 kg: the CS900V. Its 153 mm belt is enough for retail pouch sizes.
- Atta, rice, sugar, pulses and pet food up to 5 kg: the CS900VW. A bigger pouch tips on a narrow belt; the 300 mm belt gives the whole base something to stand on.
- Flour, rice, cattle feed and fertilizer bags up to 10 kg: the CS1100, with a tall frame and a sealing head that moves up or down to meet the bag at its filled height.
- Thick laminate or woven sacks: none of these – the CS1680 heavy duty sealer is built for 0.12 to 0.18 mm film.
Horizontal band sealer machine, for comparison
The horizontal twins are the CS900L (32 kg, 153 mm belt) and the CS900LW (40 kg, 300 mm belt). Speed, seal width, heat and film limit are the same as their vertical versions; only the way the pouch travels changes. Getting a clean seal on an upright pouch
- Keep the fill level below the seal line and the mouth free of powder.
- Feed the pouch straight so the mouth enters the belts level.
- Match speed and heat: slow the belt for thicker film before raising the temperature.
- Set the CS1100 head height to the filled bag, not the empty one.
- Use a wider seal on heavier bags – the CS1100 lets you go up to 12 mm.
Feeding heavy bags and what the sealer does not do
Note how bags reach the belt today: lifted by hand, slid along a table or dropped from a filler. A vertical band sealer only seals; weighing and filling still need their own machines or people, so a faster sealer helps only when sealing is the slow step. For sacks heavier than 10 kg, the PS700A pneumatic sealing machine closes bags up to 50 kg between air-operated jaws, and the CS1680 carries 15 kg of thick laminate on its conveyor.
