Wazirpur does not send cartons. It sends pipe, sheet, section and utensils, and a bundle of steel defeats almost everything written for a box.
Wazirpur Industrial Area · Delhi, Delhi
Wazirpur Industrial Area in north Delhi is a steel belt: rolling and re-rolling, pipe and tube, sheet, sections, and the utensil trade that grew around them. Alongside sits a large amount of job work that never appears on anybody's list of factories.
PackForge Industries supplies from our works at Faridabad. This page is about bundling, which is the only packing most of this material will ever get.
A length of pipe or a stack of sheet is not going into anything. It is tied, and the tie is the entire packaging.
That changes what the strap has to do. On a carton, the strap holds a shape. On a steel bundle it carries load — the bundle is heavy, the surface is slippery, and the pieces move against each other every time the lorry brakes.
Strap specification matters more than the tool here. Width and thickness decide the break load, and a bundle that shifts will find the weakest reel in your stock. Buying strap on price alone is the most expensive saving in this market.
For heavy bundles a pneumatic strapping tool is the usual answer rather than a table machine, because the strap goes to the load instead of the load going to a table. Nobody is lifting a pipe bundle onto a bench.
Steel has edges, and a sheared edge will cut polypropylene under tension long before the strap reaches its rated load.
The failure looks like a strap fault and is not one. Look at where the break happened: on a corner means the edge cut it, in the middle of a span means the tension or the specification was wrong.
Edge protectors — even a folded piece of the same board you already have — take the corner load off the strap and cost almost nothing. On a sheet stack they are not optional if you want the bundle to arrive as one bundle.
Where the material is sharp on every side, steel strap rather than PP is sometimes the honest answer, and that is a different tool. We would rather tell you that than sell you PP for a job it cannot do.
A pneumatic tool needs air of the right pressure and, more importantly, air that is reasonably dry and clean. Most steel units have a compressor; not all of them have one the tool will be happy on.
Water in the line is the common killer. It reaches the tool, sits in it, and the tool that stopped working after four months usually stopped because of the air rather than the work.
A filter-regulator-lubricator at the drop, and draining the receiver as a daily habit, is the whole of the maintenance most units need to do.
Tell us your line pressure and hose run with the enquiry. A long thin hose from a distant compressor delivers less than the gauge on the tank suggests.
The injuries in this belt are not dramatic. They are backs, and feet under a rolling pipe, and they happen at the moment a bundle is being turned rather than carried.
A hydraulic hand pallet truck earns its cost in this trade faster than almost anywhere else, provided the floor allows it. Many Wazirpur floors do not — they are old, patched, and sloped towards a drain — and a loaded truck on a bad floor is worse than no truck at all.
Tell us the floor honestly with the enquiry. Wheel choice is decided by it, and the wrong wheel on a rough floor turns a two-man job into a two-man job with an injury in it.
Equipment in a steel unit works in dust, heat and knocks, and it will be used by whoever is standing nearest. That is worth saying at the enquiry, because it changes what we would recommend.
Ask about the wearing parts and their price when you ask about the machine, not afterwards. On a tool that is used all day, the cost of ownership is in those parts rather than in the purchase.
Prices are ex works from Faridabad, with GST and freight quoted separately. A short haul into north Delhi is ordinary road freight.
The edge is cutting the strap before it reaches its load. Put a protector on the corners — folded board will do — and check the strap specification against the bundle weight.
Usually not. Nobody is lifting a pipe bundle onto a table, so the tool goes to the load instead. A pneumatic tool is the normal answer in this trade.
Check the air before you check the tool. Water in the line is the usual cause, and a filter at the drop with a daily drain of the receiver prevents most of it.
PP for most bundles; steel where the material is sharp on every side or the load is beyond what PP will hold. We would rather say so than sell you strap that will not do the job.
Tell us the floor first. On a bad floor the wrong wheel makes a loaded truck dangerous, and in some sheds the honest answer is to repair the floor before buying anything.
Send your carton size, load weight or line speed and we will tell you which machine fits — including the times when the cheaper machine is the right answer. Prices are ex works from our Faridabad works; GST and freight are quoted separately against your delivery address.
