Most cartons that fail do not fail where people look. They fail on the bottom seam, under their own contents, in a godown where nobody was watching.
Badli Industrial Area · Delhi, Delhi
Badli Industrial Area in north Delhi holds light engineering, electrical goods, fabrication and a spread of small units working to order for larger buyers, on plots that are mostly modest in size.
PackForge Industries builds carton sealing and strapping machines at Faridabad. This page is about the seal itself — how it is made, why it opens, and the point at which buying a machine for it starts to make sense.
A packed carton rests on its bottom seam for as long as it is stored. The top seam has nothing to do until somebody opens it.
So the bottom is where the tape has to be right, and it is the one people tape fastest, upside down on a bench, in a hurry. If your cartons burst in a stack rather than in transit, look there first.
Tape length past the corner is the whole trick. A strip that stops at the edge peels; the same strip carried a hand's width down each side holds. A machine does this identically every time, which is most of what you are buying.
Where the contents are heavy for the board, the honest answer is not more tape. It is a strap, or a better carton.
Tape is bought by price in this market more than any other consumable, and it is where the money quietly goes back out.
Thin tape stretches under load rather than holding, and cold makes the adhesive slow to grab. A seal made at eight in the morning in January on a cold carton is not the same seal as the one made at noon in May, and the winter one is the one that opens.
Dust is the other half. A carton that has stood in an open shed carries a film of it, and adhesive does not stick to dust. Wiping the flap is a ridiculous-sounding fix that works.
If you are changing anything after reading this page, change the tape before you change the machine.
We will say it plainly: below a certain volume a carton sealing machine does not pay, and a good hand dispenser with a trained operator does the same job.
The number is not a fixed one, but the question is. If one person is taping for less than an hour a day and your carton sizes change constantly, buy the dispenser and the better tape.
The machine starts to pay when the same size runs for hours, when the seal quality varies by who is on the bench, or when the taping step is holding up despatch at the end of the day.
A compact carton sealer is the smallest sensible step, and it suits a unit with one or two steady sizes and limited floor.
A good deal of Badli's output goes to larger buyers who specify how it should arrive, and their specification arrives after you have bought your equipment.
Ask for the packing specification with the order rather than with the first rejection. Board grade, closure method and label position are usually in it, and all three affect which machine suits you.
Where a buyer insists on a strap as well as tape, the strap goes on after the seal, not before — a strap applied first sits under the tape and holds nothing.
If a specification asks for something your equipment cannot do, tell them before shipping. A conversation is cheaper than a returned consignment.
It is a straightforward road move and the machine travels assembled. Prices are ex works; GST and freight appear separately on the quotation.
A carton sealer is set to your box before it leaves us if you send the dimensions, which saves the first hour on your floor. Send the length, width and height of the boxes you actually run, and say if more than one size shares the line.
The despatch date is given on the day you ask. There is no delivery day printed here, because it depends on the route and the week rather than on us.
That is the bottom seam under stack load. Check that the tape runs a hand's width down each side past the corner, and if the contents are heavy for the board, add a strap.
Cold slows the adhesive and a cold carton takes a poor seal. Better tape and a wipe of the flap fix most of it; the machine is rarely the cause.
At fifty a day with changing sizes, a good dispenser and better tape. The machine starts to pay when one size runs for hours or when taping delays despatch.
Seal first, strap after. A strap applied under the tape holds nothing and looks wrong to the person inspecting it.
Yes, if you send the length, width and height you actually run. It saves the first hour on your floor.
Send your carton size, load weight or line speed and we will tell you which machine fits — including the times when the cheaper machine is the right answer. Prices are ex works from our Faridabad works; GST and freight are quoted separately against your delivery address.
