A carton of fasteners weighs more than a carton of almost anything else its size, and it is usually packed in a box chosen for a lighter product. That is the whole story of damage in this trade.
Loni Road Industrial Area · Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh
The Loni Road belt in Ghaziabad holds hardware and fastener manufacture and trade, small fabrication, plastics and a spread of light industrial units supplying the Delhi market.
PackForge Industries builds carton sealing and strapping machines at Faridabad. This page is about small heavy goods — the load that defeats an ordinary carton.
Board strength is specified for a stack, not for what is inside the box, and a small carton full of steel exceeds what a single-wall board was ever meant to carry.
The failure is the bottom seam, and then the corners. It happens in a godown under a stack, or at the moment somebody picks the carton up by its flaps.
Double-wall board for anything heavy, and a smaller box rather than a bigger one. A half-filled large carton is worse than a full small one, because the contents shift and hammer the walls.
Fill the void. Steel moving inside a carton will find the weak point and leave through it, and no tape or strap will hold a box that is being attacked from inside.
Tape is chosen by habit in this trade and it should be chosen by weight.
A narrow tape on a heavy carton is holding a small area of board, and the board tears around the tape rather than the tape failing. People blame the tape and buy the same one again.
Wider tape, carried well down the sides, spreads the load across more board. Beyond a point, though, tape is not the answer at all and a strap is — and that point arrives sooner in this trade than in any other.
Where a customer opens and re-closes cartons repeatedly, expect the tape to be the weakest thing in the chain and plan for it.
Fasteners and small hardware are often sold by count and shipped by weight, and the two rarely agree exactly.
State on the carton which one is authoritative. A carton marked with a count that was actually derived from a weighing is an argument waiting for a customer with a different scale.
Where you weigh, weigh the same way every time — same scale, same container, tare recorded. Two scales in one unit produce two truths and eventually one dispute.
This is not equipment we sell. It is the commonest complaint in this trade and it is worth more to fix than a machine is.
A lot of this material moves loose, in bins and sacks, to traders who break it down again.
Sacks and open bins are where mixed sizes happen, and a mixed batch of fasteners is scrap for the customer even though every piece in it is good. Separation is worth more than protection here.
Where you pack in bags before the carton, a sealed bag prevents mixing in a way that a folded one does not, and it survives being tipped out and put back.
For heavier bins, a hydraulic hand pallet truck and a proper pallet beat carrying by hand, and the injuries in this trade are all in the carrying.
Machines here take a beating: heavy cartons dropped onto tables, dust, and operators in a hurry.
Ask about the table and the frame rather than the cycle speed. In this trade the machine's life is decided by how heavy a carton it is expected to take, and by whether it is loaded or dropped onto.
Tell us the heaviest carton you actually run — not the average, the heaviest. It is the number that should choose the machine.
Prices are ex works from Faridabad, GST and freight separate. Loni Road is a straightforward road move.
Single-wall board under a steel load. Move to double wall, use a smaller box, and fill the void so the contents cannot shift.
Up to a point — wider tape spreads the load over more board. Past that point tape is not the answer at all and a strap is, and in this trade that point arrives early.
State on the carton whether the count or the weight is authoritative, and weigh the same way every time. Two scales in one unit produce two truths.
Seal the inner bags rather than folding them. Separation matters more than protection when a mixed batch is scrap even though every piece is good.
Tell us the heaviest carton you actually run. The table and frame matter more than cycle speed when boxes are dropped onto the machine all day.
For light goods, sometimes. For anything heavy, no — a carton that has already made one journey has lost a good part of its edge strength, and it is the edges that carry the stack.
Send your carton size, load weight or line speed and we will tell you which machine fits — including the times when the cheaper machine is the right answer. Prices are ex works from our Faridabad works; GST and freight are quoted separately against your delivery address.
