Sahibabad ships weight and it ships fragility, sometimes in the same truck. Steel and engineering on one side, glass and ceramics on the other, and the packing that suits one is exactly wrong for the other.
Sahibabad Industrial Area · Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh
Sahibabad Industrial Area, Sites I to IV, is the oldest and heaviest part of the Ghaziabad belt: steel fabrication, pipes and tubes, engineering goods, electrical equipment, glass and ceramics, and a long tail of component suppliers.
PackForge Industries supplies from our works at Faridabad — across the NCR rather than across the country. This page is about the heavy end of the range and about the one case where the heavy answer is wrong.
A bundle of pipes, a stack of sheet or a crate of fabricated parts does not behave like a carton. The load settles in transit, the strap goes slack, and a slack strap is worse than none because it invites the load to move inside its own bundle.
Two things address it. Repeatable tension, which is what a semi automatic strapping machine gives you over a hand tool — the setting stops depending on who is on shift. And for bundles that will never go through an arch, a pneumatic strapping tool applied where the load stands, at a tension no person reaches by hand.
Strap specification carries the whole load. Width and thickness decide the break load, and the strap has to be matched to the bundle weight and the journey. Send both, and the strap you use now or a photograph of the reel label.
The same estate ships glass, and everything above is wrong for it. A strap under real tension across a glass pack is a broken pack.
Glass travels held rather than compressed: film that holds a stack together without a point load, interleaving that stops face contact, and a pallet that does not flex. A turntable stretch wrapper at a low film force does that job; the setting is the whole point and it should be set against your own pack rather than left at a default.
Where the pack is unstable — tall, light, or mixed heights — a top press holds it while the turntable turns, which is far safer for glass than adding wraps.
We would rather tell a glass unit that a strapping machine is the wrong purchase than sell one. It comes up here more than anywhere else in the NCR.
Sahibabad's units store drums of oil, varnish and coolant in cramped yards, and the space pressure pushes them upward — drums stacked two high, or racked.
Reach height is the specification nobody checks until it is too late. A lifter that handles your drums perfectly at floor level may not raise one to the second tier of a rack, and the lift height is quoted separately from the capacity for exactly that reason. Measure the highest position you actually need to reach and send that number with the enquiry; it is a more useful figure than the drum weight, which we can guess.
Two-high stacking without a rack is where drums fall. A drum resting on another drum has a contact patch the size of a hand, and it takes very little — a knock from a pallet truck, a floor that is not quite level — to start it moving. If drums are going two high, they belong in a frame that holds them, and no amount of careful handling substitutes for that.
The capacity itself is quoted against a full steel drum, and a plastic drum's rim is not the same, so say which you handle.
A fabrication floor has weld spatter, swarf, oil and expansion joints that a small wheel drops into. Pallet trucks fail at the wheels long before anything else goes.
Polyurethane load wheels last considerably longer than nylon here and are worth specifying at the order. Capacity should be chosen against your heaviest pallet plus a margin rather than your average — a truck run permanently at its rated load loses its seals early.
The load wheels take more punishment than the steer wheels, so those are the ones to keep a spare set of.
Sahibabad sits at the Delhi–UP border and our works are at the south of the NCR, so this is a road move across the ring rather than a freight consignment. The machine leaves run-tested and travels on proper packing regardless.
Prices are ex works, with GST and freight shown separately. We will give you the despatch date for the model you are asking about on the day you ask, and the docket number once it moves.
Sahibabad has a rail siding history that road-served estates do not, and steel and heavy engineering still move that way. It changes the packing more than most buyers expect.
A rail wagon is shunted. That is a longitudinal shock a road trailer never delivers, and it arrives suddenly rather than building up. A load secured well enough for a road journey can shift on a single shunt, and it shifts along the wagon rather than side to side.
What that asks for is strapping in the direction of travel, not just around the bundle. A bundle strapped only across itself will slide as a bundle. This is the one case where the strapping pattern matters more than the tension, and it is worth getting advice on rather than working out after a claim.
Film does almost nothing against a shunt and should not be relied on for it. If a consignment is going by rail, say so with the enquiry — the honest answer may be that the packing is fine and the securing inside the wagon is what needs attention, which is not something we sell.
A tool. No arch takes a pipe bundle, and the tool reaches a tension a hand cannot. Many Sahibabad plants end up with both — a machine for boxed work and a tool for bundles.
Usually not. A strap under real tension across a glass pack is a broken pack. Film at a low force plus interleaving is the answer, and a top press if the stack is unstable.
The load is settling. Repeatable tension and the right strap specification for the bundle weight fix it; a hand tool that depends on who is on shift does not.
Polyurethane, specified at the order. Nylon will not last on spatter and swarf. Keep a spare set of load wheels.
No, the hydraulic units are hand-pumped. The feature to check is the safety lock.
Send your carton size, load weight or line speed and we will tell you which machine fits — including the times when the cheaper machine is the right answer. Prices are ex works from our Faridabad works; GST and freight are quoted separately against your delivery address.
