What does Rajkot pack in cartons?

Rajkot is the main engineering centre of Saurashtra. Its foundries and machine shops are known across India for a few product families, and each fills its own kind of box:

• Pumps and engines. Submersible and monoblock pumps, motors and diesel engines, packed in heavy single-item cartons.
• Castings, forgings and auto parts. Dense boxes of machined parts for vehicle and tractor makers.
• Machine tools and bearings. Lathe accessories, tooling and bearings in small, heavy cartons.
• Imitation jewellery. A large trade in the city, sending light boxes to retailers and online buyers.

Nearby, Jamnagar is known for brass parts and Morbi for ceramic tiles and wall clocks, and many Rajkot traders pack goods from both. A carton sealing machine serves all of these, but not one model serves them all equally well.

Box packaging machine in Rajkot: which one do you need?

When a Rajkot buyer asks for a box packaging machine, three different machines may be meant:

1. A carton sealer, which tapes the top and bottom flaps of a packed box in one pass.
2. A strapping machine, which puts PP straps around a box to carry its weight.
3. A taping and strapping combo, which does both on one frame.

For a light box of one size, a sealer alone is enough. For heavy engineering cartons, the tape closes the box and the strap carries the load, so many units need both. Strapping machines on their own are covered under semi automatic strapping machines; the combo is the 102PLS, which tapes and straps at a rated 20 cartons a minute.

Pumps, engines and castings: how do heavy cartons stay shut?

A carton holding a pump set or a box of castings puts its whole weight on the bottom seam whenever it is lifted. Rajkot units deal with that in steps:

• 3-inch tape. The 102TU accepts 76 mm rolls and is rated at 20 cartons a minute; the wider strip holds more of each flap.
• Wipe the flaps. Machined parts carry cutting oil and fine chips; tape on an oily flap lets go early. Bag oily parts before packing.
• H-seal. The 5050J edge sealer adds strips across both short edges and handles packs weighing from 2.5 kg up to 30 kg.
• Know the limits. Most of our sealers take cartons up to 500 mm wide and high, and the 5050J needs at least 320 x 200 x 180 mm. Larger engine and pump crates are strapped, not taped.

Brass parts and imitation jewellery: what about small boxes?

Small boxes cause the opposite problem. They slip between the side belts of a full-size sealer or tip over at the tape head.

Brass and small machined parts. Boxes of brass fittings, inserts and fasteners are tiny but heavy. The 102TUS holds boxes as small as about 80 to 90 mm and works off a 220 V supply. Its heads carry only 36 or 48 mm rolls, so a very heavy small box still wants a strap or fewer pieces inside.

Imitation jewellery. These boxes are light and usually go out in one or two standard sizes to wholesalers and online buyers. A crowded dispatch room in the old city can take the compact sealer: its frame is roughly 1,000 by 750 mm and it draws around 0.2 kW.

Aji, Metoda, Shapar-Veraval and the Morbi side
