A transformer is not a pallet problem. It is one object, heavier than everything around it, that leaves in a crate built for it — and the packing question is what holds it inside that crate rather than what wraps the outside.
Makarpura GIDC · Vadodara, Gujarat
Makarpura GIDC and the Vadodara industrial belt hold heavy electricals — transformers, switchgear, motors and control panels — alongside engineering, fabrication and a petrochemical-adjacent supply chain.
PackForge Industries supplies from our works at Faridabad. This page is honest about a cluster where much of what leaves the gate needs no packaging machine at all, and about the parts of it that do.
A transformer or a large panel is crated, bolted down inside the crate, and lifted by sling or by fork. There is no carton, no pallet stack and nothing for a wrapper to turn.
What holds it is the bolting and the crate, and that is a fabrication job rather than a packaging one. We are not going to pretend otherwise in order to quote.
Where strap does appear on work like this, it is round the crate rather than round the goods, and it is applied with a pneumatic strapping tool at a tension no hand reaches. The tool's performance depends on your air supply — line pressure and available flow — and an underperforming tool is almost always an air problem.
For the accessories that travel with a large item — bushings, fittings, oil, spares — the packing is ordinary carton and pallet work, and it is where most of the damage claims on these consignments actually come from.
Transformer and switchgear work moves insulating oil in drums, and it moves it into areas where a spill is expensive rather than merely messy.
A drum carrier and lifter with a working safety lock takes the tipping point out of the lift. Where drums are decanted rather than moved sealed, the attachment and the geometry are different — say which you do, because buying the lifting-only version and discovering it later is a common mistake.
Capacity is quoted against a full steel drum. If drums are handled warm, say so; a warm drum's contents move more and the grip behaves differently.
Between the transformer and the carton sits the bulk of Makarpura's despatch: control panels, motors, switchgear assemblies. Heavy, tall, and unstable on a pallet.
These are the case for a top press rather than more film. A tall load that wants to lean is held by pressing it down while the turntable turns, not by adding wraps around a stack that is already moving.
A panel also has a face that must not be marked, which rules out a strap across it. The strap goes round the pallet and the base, and the film does the rest.
Where a load is genuinely too tall to be stable at all, that is a stacking decision before it is a wrapping one, and we will say so.
A great deal of Makarpura's output goes to project customers and EPC contractors, and their paperwork requirements reach the packing.
What is usually asked for is a packing list that matches the crate, a photograph at despatch, and a record of how the load was secured. None of that needs special equipment, and all of it is easier when the strap tension is a number on a machine rather than a judgement in somebody's hands.
Ask for the machine's datasheet with the quotation. Your quality department will want it in the file, and it is easier to obtain once than twice.
Packing for a substation, a plant site or a project store is decided by what is available at the far end, and that is rarely a loading dock.
A skid that a forklift can take at your gate may have to come off a trailer at site with a hydra and a couple of slings. Fork pockets on two sides only, or lifting points that were never meant to carry the whole assembly, are how a good pack gets damaged in the last hundred metres of a journey.
Ask your customer how it will be unloaded before the crate is designed. Where the answer is a crane, the marking matters as much as the timber - a sling position marked on the outside is read; one written in the packing list is not.
For the smaller items that travel with the main equipment, ordinary sealing and strapping apply, and keeping those cartons on the same pallet as the crate saves more at site than it does in freight.
A long road move from Faridabad, priced as one. Prices are ex works with GST and freight quoted separately.
Tell us which state the goods are being billed into at the enquiry — getting it right on the first quotation saves a revision — and send any vendor onboarding or supplier declaration form with it, so it comes back completed with the quotation.
We will give you the despatch date on the day you ask and the docket number once it moves.
For the transformer itself, no — it is bolted into a crate, and that is fabrication rather than packaging. We will say so rather than quote. The accessories travelling with it are where the damage claims come from.
Tell us your line pressure and available flow and we will confirm the tool against them. An underperforming tool is almost always an air problem rather than a tool problem.
A top press rather than more film. Wrapping harder around a stack that is already moving does not hold it — pressing it down while the turntable turns does.
No. The strap goes round the pallet and the base; the film does the rest. A marked panel face is a rejection.
That is easier when the tension is a number on a machine rather than a judgement. Ask for the datasheet with the quotation and your quality file has what it needs.
Sling positions on the outside of the crate, where the rigger can see them. A note in the packing list is read in an office, not at the hook.
Send your carton size, load weight or line speed and we will tell you which machine fits — including the times when the cheaper machine is the right answer. Prices are ex works from our Faridabad works; GST and freight are quoted separately against your delivery address.
