Carton Size Guide for Sealing Machines

Every carton sealer has a smallest and a largest box it can grip and tape. This guide lists the published limits for each PackForge model and includes a checker that tells you which machines suit your carton.

Quick answer: The right carton size for sealing machine work depends on the model, since each sealer has a smallest and largest box it can hold. The PackForge 102TUS (₹98,560 + ₹17,741 GST) goes down to about 80 to 90 mm, the 102TU starts at L150 x W170 x H110 mm, and the 5050Z takes up to 600 x 500 x 500 mm.

How do you measure a carton for a sealing machine?

Measure the box as the machine will meet it: filled, flaps closed, outside faces. The size on a drawing is often smaller than the real box once it bulges after packing.

  • Length (L): the side that runs through the machine, along the flap joint that gets taped.
  • Width (W): across the machine, between the two side guides or belts.
  • Height (H): from the table to the top of the closed flaps, which sets the top head.

Do this for every carton your dispatch uses, not only the main shipper. Write down the smallest and largest figure in each of the three dimensions. Those six numbers decide which machines can take all your boxes.

Carton sealing machine specification: size limits by model

These figures are copied from the specification tables on each live product page. Where a model's page does not publish limits, the table says so; we confirm them against your carton instead of guessing.

Three-figure entries read length x width x height. The 102TUS and 102TR pages give two figures, and the 102TUS page states its 500 x 500 mm limit is width and height. Where only two figures appear, send us your carton and we will confirm it.

Carton size checker

Enter the outside size of your closed, filled carton in millimetres. Length is the side that travels through the machine. The checker compares it only with the limits published on our product pages.

A result here is a first filter, not a promise. Board stiffness and shape matter too, so confirm the final choice with us.

What happens below the min carton size?

A box smaller than the machine's minimum is not held properly. The side belts cannot press on narrow walls, so the carton twists or stops between them. A very low box may pass under the top head without the roller pressing the tape down. A very short one leaves no room for the front and rear clips to form.

You have three options: a machine built for small outers, such as the 102TUS for small cartons; taping those few boxes by hand; or packing them inside a larger outer. If small cartons are most of your output, choose the machine; if they are a handful a day, keep a dispenser.

What happens above the max carton size?

A box wider or taller than the maximum simply will not pass between the guides or under the top head. Forcing it crushes corners and can damage the head.

Look at how often that big shipper actually runs. A large carton that leaves once a week is cheaper to tape by hand than to buy a bigger machine for. If large boxes run daily, compare models: the 5050Z lists a maximum of 600 x 500 x 500 mm, while the 102TU and 102PLS publish no maximum length at all.

Which model fits small, standard and mixed cartons?

  • Small outers under 150 mm: pharma strips, cosmetics, phone accessories. The 102TUS is the one model published down to about 80 to 90 mm.
  • Standard shippers, one size most of the day: the 102TU standard carton sealer from L150 x W170 x H110 mm, or the semi automatic and compact models once we confirm your size.
  • Cartons that must be strapped as well: the 102PLS, from L150 x W135 x H130 mm.
  • Mixed sizes all day: the 102TR, which adjusts itself to each box within its listed range, or the automatic random sealer.
  • Tall, heavy export boxes: the 5050J, from 320 x 200 x 180 mm, which puts tape on the end edges too.

If your range spans two groups, check whether one machine covers both before buying two.

Why do length, width and height limit a sealer differently?

Width is held by the side belts. Too narrow, and they cannot reach the walls; too wide, and the box will not enter. Height is set by the top head's travel up and down its columns. Length is the run along the joint. The belts keep pulling as long as the box keeps coming, which is why the 102TU and 102PLS list a minimum length but give only width and height as maximums.

A very long carton still needs support at both ends, so infeed and outfeed rollers matter as much as the frame. If your longest box is well over 500 mm, tell us before ordering.

How should you read the checker result?

  • Fits the published size range: all three sides are inside the limits on the product page.
  • Close to the listed minimum: for the 102TUS (80 to 90 mm) and 102TR (180 x 100 mm), where the page gives a range or two figures, the box is near the edge. Send a sample.
  • Smaller or larger than the published limit: that model is not suitable for this box.
  • Ask us: the model's page does not list size limits, or the box is longer than any published length.

The checker does not judge weight, board strength or flap length, which also affect the seal.

What should you send for a size check?

Send the smallest and largest carton dimensions, the share of daily volume each takes, the packed weight of the heaviest box and, if you can, a photo with a measuring tape across it. For a size near a limit, couriering one real carton to Faridabad settles it.

We manufacture these sealers in Faridabad and reply with the model that fits and its price. All rates are on the carton sealing machine price page, and the wider choice of power, air and tape is in the carton sealing machine buying guide.

Questions buyers ask

What is the smallest carton a sealer can tape?

Among PackForge models the 102TUS goes smallest, with a published minimum of about 80 to 90 mm. Box shape and board stiffness also matter, so send your smallest carton and we will answer against that box.

What is the maximum carton size for the 102TU?

The 102TU lists a maximum of W500 x H500 mm and a minimum of L150 x W170 x H110 mm. No maximum length is published, so tell us if your carton is unusually long.

Chhota carton machine mein phans jata hai, kya karein?

The box is probably below the machine's minimum size, so the belts cannot grip it. Use a small-carton model like the 102TUS, tape those boxes by hand, or pack them inside a bigger outer.

Do the compact and semi automatic models have size limits?

Yes, every sealer has limits, but they are not published on those product pages. Send us your smallest and largest carton dimensions and we will confirm the fit before you order.

Can one machine handle all my carton sizes?

Only if every size sits inside its range. A semi automatic model needs a manual reset for each size, while the 102TR adjusts itself to each box between its listed minimum and maximum.

Should I measure the empty or the filled carton?

The filled carton with flaps closed, on its outside faces. Packed boxes often bulge, and the machine meets the box as it is, not as drawn.

Is the 5050J suitable for small cartons?

No. Its published minimum is 320 x 200 x 180 mm, and it is built for cartons of 2.5 to 30 kg that need an H-seal. Small outers suit the 102TUS better.
