Sealing Machine for Medicine and Ayurvedic Packs

A medicine packet sealing machine for chemist counters, Ayurvedic brands and labs: what to seal on an impulse sealer, how to keep seals clean and consistent, and what the machine does not do.

Quick answer: Chemists, Ayurvedic brands and labs use a small hand impulse sealer to close medicine covers, churna pouches and sample bags with a clean, consistent 2 mm seal. The PackForge 8 inch costs ₹1,348, or ₹2,348 in Heavy Duty with a 5-year warranty for busy counters. It seals bags and pouches, not blister packs.

What chemists and Ayurvedic brands seal

PackTypical sizeSealer
Tablet strips in a poly cover3×4 to 4×6 inch8 inch
Churna and herbal powder pouch50–250 g, 5×7 inch8 inch
Capsule and sample packs2×3 to 4×6 inch8 inch
Ointment tubes over-bagged6×9 inch8 or 10 inch
Bulk powder liners1–5 kg16 or 20 inch

Clean, consistent seals

  1. Choose one timer setting per film and write it on the machine.
  2. Keep powder off the pouch mouth: fill with a funnel and tap the pouch before sealing.
  3. Change the Teflon tape at the first brown patch – a scorched strip leaves marks.
  4. For a chain of counters, buy the same size everywhere so spares are common.
  5. High volume at one counter? The Heavy Duty 8 inch (₹2,348) carries a 5-year warranty.

Batch and expiry labels

Leave a flat area below the seal for the batch number, manufacturing date and expiry. The narrow 2 mm impulse seal leaves more label room than a wide hot-bar seal. Printing directly on the pouch needs a separate coder; the sealer only closes the pack.

What an impulse sealer does not do

  • It is not a strip or blister packing machine – it seals bags and pouches only.
  • It does not create a sterile or validated seal for regulated medical devices.
  • It does not seal aluminium foil laminates – use a hot bar sealer.

For a chemist counter, an Ayurvedic brand’s packing room or a lab, an impulse sealer is the simplest way to close covers and pouches neatly.

One counter or a chain of stores

A single chemist counter needs one 8 inch sealer. A chain of stores gains from standardising: the same size and version at every counter means one spare-parts stock, one way of training staff and one warranty period to track. Most chains choose the Standard 8 inch for small stores and the Heavy Duty 8 inch for the two or three busiest counters.

Ayurvedic brands packing churna in volume usually start with two 8 inch sealers and a 12 inch for larger refill packs.

Questions we are asked about this

Which sealing machine is used in medical shops?

A small hand impulse sealer, usually 8 inch, to seal tablet strips and small items in poly covers.

Can I seal churna pouches with an impulse sealer?

Yes, plain and PE-lined pouches. Keep powder off the seal area for a leak-free seal.

Is an impulse sealer a blister packing machine?

No. It seals bags and pouches only; blister and strip packing need dedicated machines.

What does an 8 inch sealer cost?

₹1,348 (Standard) or ₹2,348 (Heavy Duty), plus 18% GST, with free delivery.

Can I seal powder pouches without leaks?

Yes. Fill with a funnel, tap the pouch so no powder stays at the mouth, and seal at a steady timer step.

Which size do chains of chemist stores buy?

Most standardise on the 8 inch at every counter, so spares and training are the same everywhere.
